Q: What is the difference between knurled pins and smooth pins?

The pull-out resistance and anti-rotation ability are much better than those of smooth pins; smooth pins require higher precision fit tolerances or additional locking methods. A: The holding force depends on three factors: the interference between the knurled outer diameter and the mounting hole, the knurled tooth shape and depth, and the material hardness. Q: What is the difference between cold heading process and turning process? Which one is better?

A: Cold heading non-standard parts are formed in one step through metal plastic deformation. The metal flow lines are continuous, high strength and high material utilization rate (90%-95%). They are suitable for mass production and lower cost. The turning process is suitable for small batches, complex shapes or parts with extremely high tolerance requirements, but the material utilization rate is low. For medium and large quantities of knurled pins, cold heading is a more economical and reliable option.

 

Q: Will knurling affect the dimensional accuracy of the pin?

A: The outer diameter of the knurl will be slightly larger than the base diameter of the rod. We strictly control the matching size of the outer diameter of the knurl and the mounting hole. Each batch of products uses an image measuring instrument to detect key dimensions such as knurl outer diameter, rod diameter, coaxiality, etc. to ensure the press-fitting effect without damaging the workpiece.
